Google Meet Joining & Troubleshooting Protocol

Follow these steps in order:

  1. Confirm you are joining the correct training.

    • Open the invite for the correct day and meeting time.

    • Click the Google Meet link contained in that specific invite.

    • If you are unsure about the time-zone conversion, verify the current time at time.gov.

  2. Use your correct name and Google account.

    • Join using the same legal first and last name you provided when you enrolled.

    • Your name must match your enrollment information for attendance to be tracked correctly.

    • Use MSC Google account if you are out of Bootcamp.

  3. Join approximately one minute before the scheduled start time.

    • Do not join excessively early, or Google Meet may time you out.

    • Joining one minute early is enough to ensure you are on time.

  4. Wait for the host to admit you.

    • You will not receive an MSC account address until you are promoted to an Auditor position.

    • Until then, Google Meet will place you in the waiting room.

    • This is normal and does not indicate a technical problem.

    • The host will admit everyone from the waiting room at the start of training.

    • If you arrive late, the host may not immediately see your request or return to admit you. Arrive on time to avoid being locked out.

  5. Do not bring AI notetakers into the meeting.

    • Do not invite or use AI notetakers, recording bots, or transcription assistants during training.

    • Approved training recordings are posted in the Slack #training-recordings channel.

  6. Troubleshoot connection problems.

If Google Meet will not load or connect:

    • Try opening the link in a different browser.

    • Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.

    • Open an incognito or private browsing window and try the link again.

    • Confirm that your internet connection is working, then rejoin using the correct invite link.
